Pastoral Care

Supporting and Caring for Each Other

Caring Ministry members serve as spiritual companions to parishioners who can’t get to church or who are going through a difficult time. If you know someone who would like a visit from a Lay Caring Minister to visit them, contact the Reverend Eric Long at elong@stjohnsroanoke.org.

Gathering Meal Groups (GMGs) prepare the meals that follow the Sunday Gathering (during the school year). Cooking together is a great way to make new friends!

Intercessory Prayer Group members intercede for those in need of prayer. They hold into the light of God a list of people who have requested prayer or for whom prayer has been requested. Contact the Reverend Eric Long at elong@stjohnsroanoke.org.

Parish Life Teams prepare and serve food for Sunday morning coffee hour, special brunches, parish group meetings, Lenten suppers, receptions after funerals, and more. Email Sara Brooks at sarabrooks60@gmail.com.

Pastoral Care Committee members assist with nursing home services and teas, write condolence notes, cook meals, support parents-to-be and college students and more. Email Martha Apple at mgoodwin8@cox.net.
