Endowment Fund

St. John's Endowment Fund

The Vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church established an Endowment Fund in 2010 in recognition that Christian stewardship involves the faithful management of all that God has given us. Gifts to the St. John’s Endowment during our lifetime and at our death through our estate plans create a permanent legacy gift to help fund St. John’s ministries in perpetuity.

The endowment board, appointed by the Vestry, oversees the fund and engages the services of an independent investment service to manage the fund. Disbursements from the Endowment are designed to ensure that the earnings are distributed annually for the work of St. John’s while the principal remains invested.

“I’m so very pleased that the Vestry has had the foresight to establish St. John’s Endowment. The foundation we lay now will ensure the Gospel ministry of St. John’s long after we are gone and equip the saints who come after us. A gift to the Endowment is a gift for the Kingdom of God.”

Purpose

The purpose of the Endowment is to empower St. John’s mission and ministry beyond the resources of the annual operating budget through managed distributions from the Endowment funds. Income earned and appreciation on the investments are allocated by the Vestry each year to be used in the following ways:

  • Outreach
  • Property and special non-recurring capital needs
  • Music
  • Education, communication, technology
  • Endowing an annual stewardship pledge

“To be a part of the Church is to receive an inheritance, generously given by generations of faithful people who invested in things eternal. They believed in the future. They believed in us. St. John’s Endowment is our opportunity to do the same. When we likewise give to the future, we ensure the witness of this parish will perpetually reach lives yet to be born. In providing such a legacy, we do for others what has been done for us.” -Eric Long, Rector of St. John's

“Our family is truly blessed to have found a home at St. John’s. By giving to the Endowment Fund, we hope to keep the doors of our historic church open and inspire future generations to love and serve the Lord.” -Carolyn and Bill H'Doubler
