In the three years that Meredith Harper has served as St. John’s Minister to Children and Families, we have experienced a transformation of children’s ministries in our parish. From a total redesign of our Sunday chapel and educational programs, to adding new offerings like Lego Nights and Pre-Youth Group, Meredith has built dynamic and comprehensive ministries for our kids. The children of St. John’s are given every opportunity to engage with our church, and, more importantly, the gospel of Christ we proclaim.
Sadly, Meredith will be stepping down from that role at the end of May. She is returning to the classroom and will begin teaching next year at Roanoke Catholic School.
For all the wonderful work she has done, we owe her a great debt of gratitude and our blessings on this new endeavor.
Given the priority of this area of ministry, we will be looking for new leadership to carry forward the great work Meredith started. Undoubtedly, it will mean that all of us must step up a bit more to help carry the weight. Meredith has set us on a good course, and hers are big shoes to fill.
Join me in thanking Meredith for her faithful work. It is with great hope that we anticipate what God has in store for us next. –The Reverend Eric Long
