Who We Are

St. John's: At the Intersection of Faith and Faithfulness

This church has stood on the corner of Jefferson and Elm in downtown Roanoke for more than 125 years, through more than a century of history and human change. A constant in this community, we're continuing to grow in our ministry and in our people, in a unique place where urban and mountains meet, where there are great needs and great resources to help meet those needs.

We're a week-in and week-out, year-round church, offering thought-provoking classes on Sunday mornings, small groups focused on prayer and fellowship during the week, a vibrant music program for all ages from kindergarten through adulthood, youth groups for middle school through high school, guest speakers, a community garden, a 20-year fine arts series and a wide range of opportunities for volunteering.

We also share our spaces with the community, hosting scouts, local nonprofits, celebrations and music festivals, plus organizations that reach some of those with the greatest challenges in our city, from at-risk pre-school children to those trying to stay in their homes and their livelihoods.
