Labyrinth

The Labyrinth represents a spiritual journey or pilgrimage and can provide a few precious moments of solitude and thought, far from the maddening rush of events.  The Labyrinth at St. John's came from Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and was modeled after the sacred design laid on the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France around 1220.

St. John’s now has an outdoor as well as an indoor labyrinth.

Many hours of research contributed to the outdoor design. Dedicated workers designed and hauled the many loads of soil and rock, and decorated the labyrinth as a gift of love for all those who choose to walk it.

The labyrinth was dedicated in the Spring of 2005. The girls and boys who participated in the Wednesday night Lenten programs participated in the dedication. These children learned about the history and various designs of the labyrinth.

Our outdoor labyrinth is open for the downtown community. At the present time the Labyrinth Committee is in need of a chairman. We hope that anyone who is interested and has some new ideas will consider becoming our chairman. Please call Ann-Muir Moomaw (343-9341) in the Parish Office for further information.
