Children are not only the future of our church
but also a part of the church now. In worship children participate
as readers, acolytes, Crucifers, and ushers. There is a choir
program for children, and the choirs sing regularly in the services.
Sunday School is provided for those from nursery age on up.
In addition, there are intergenerational events throughout the year
in which all age groups are invited and encouraged to attend. |

This year we have added a children’s church
service that is available to children age 4 through 5th grade. This
service is designed to follow our Episcopal Liturgy on a level that
is meaningful to our children.
This special service begins at 10 a.m. and ends
when children are escorted into the “big church” to
join their families. For more information please contact David Lake
(342-6667). |

St. John's subscribes to the Children's Charter
adopted by the General Convention of the Episcopal Church:
Nurture of the Child
The Church is called
- to treasure every child as a gift from God
- to teach them to know that God is love
- To make working with children the most important
thing we do and to include children in every thing we do from
Sunday morning worship to helping others.
Ministry to the Child
The Church is called
- to love and protect all children-those in
the church and in the world
- to support families in caring for children
and to help families give their children an understanding of God
- to welcome children who want to come to us,
even if their families have no interest in church
- to stand up for children's rights in our churches,
communities, and the world Ministry of the Child
The Church is called
- to receive children's special gifts as gifts
of the grace of God
- to create a sense of family in the church
where children and adults know each others' names, and work and
play together as the Family of God
- to appreciate that children have special abilities
that show God's grace and love, to give them the chance of using
those gifts in the worship, work and leadership of the Church,
and to give us the opportunity of witnessing it.
